MRS. PAULINE MAROIS

Parti Québécois
Premier
I am proud to welcome you to the Carnaval de Québec site. As you “leaf” through these pages, you’ll see that this year, the 59th edition of the world’s biggest winter carnival, Bonhomme has outdone himself in making this event more festive and unifying than ever.
It’s a well-known fact: for anyone who wants to make merry during winter, the Carnaval de Québec is a must. Not only does the city itself pull out all the stops, but the activities it proposes for young and young at heart are varied and entertaining.
The Carnaval de Québec would not be possible without support from numerous partners and hundreds of volunteers who, year after year, work to make this event a success. Thank you all for being so generous.
As Premier and an MNA of the Capitale-Nationale region, I would like to extend this personal and enthusiastic invitation to you to be part of Carnaval de Québec’s festivities next February. Whether family or friends, from here or elsewhere, come celebrate with Bonhomme and all winter-lovers!
MRS. AGNÈS MALTAIS AND MR. PASCAL BÉRUBÉ
Minister of Labour
Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity
Minister responsible for the Status of Women
Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions
Minister for Tourism
Québec has all the assets needed to become a world-class winter destination. The government has therefore made this one of the priorities in its 2012-2020 development plan for the tourism industry. With numerous festivals and events, including the renowned Winter Carnival, the Capitale-Nationale region shines at the international level.
A not-to-miss annual event for nearly 60 years, the Québec Winter Carnival offers activities and fun to enchant young and old. Like visitors, residents are also charmed by the many events including night parades, the canoe race over the ice on the St. Lawrence River, the International Snow Sculpture Event and the snow bath! What’s more, the event generates significant spin-offs for the economy and tourism in the region.
We would like to commend the organizers and numerous volunteers who invest time and energy to ensure the success of the Carnival. Because of their dedication, the Carnival received the Event of the Year Award at the Canadian Tourism Awards in 2011. We are proud of this achievement!
May this popular public festival be an opportunity for everyone to gather and make the most of all the joys winter has to offer!

MR. RÉGIS LABEAUME
Mayor of Québec City
“Put on your tuque and your nice gloves”, the Quebec City Winter Carnival is here again at last!
Always so colourful and exhilarating, the world’s greatest winter festival shows no wrinkles at all as it approaches its 60th anniversary! Along with Bonhomme Carnaval, the undisputed star of the event, young and old alike will discover the thousand and one ways to celebrate the Québec winter to its fullest. Fun and bursts of laughter guaranteed!
As the song tells us, it’s not always Carnival time! So make it a date, at the Québec City Winter Carnival, from February 1 to 17!
The Mayor of Québec City,
