Volunteers have been at the heart of the Winter Carnival since it first started in 1954. Thanks to their devotion, dynamism, and high spirits, thousands of people have gone away happy from the Carnival every year, with a bit of enchantment in their hearts and smiles on their lips.
People become volunteers for a variety of reasons. Most do so to be in the thick of things and to have fun and meet people. For others, the Carnival is an extraordinary opportunity for them to gain experience in their field of study and thus increase their chances of landing a job. They range from “7 to 77″ in age, and are students, recent retirees, or working people. Whatever their lot in life, they have one thing in common, one thing that brings them together: they all want the event to succeed and they do their utmost to make it a success.
This year, around 1,400 volunteers will brave the cold to bring a bit of warmth to the Québec Winter Carnival. Cheerfully and proudly, they’ll give the best of themselves. Let’s thank them for the past 55 years and… let’s Carnival on.
