Message from the Prime Minister

Celebrating winter is a tradition in Québec that stretches back several centuries. Sports and artistic competitions, family and folklore activities are all part of the enjoyment in which we take part during this season. In our national capital, we are proud to have the Québec Winter Carnival, a key winter event, which has been bringing us together for decades, as well as visitors from around the globe.

The familiar arrowhead sash, the spectacular ice canoe race and the International Snow Sculpture Competition, to name a few, are all reminders of our history. They have inspired us to take ownership of our winter fun and to find the opportunities to gather for these festivities. This is how the snow-laden capital and the warm hospitality of Quebecers have come to provide the most enchanting setting for the world’s greatest winter carnival.

I would like to thank all those who are involved, and who work tirelessly to promote this event both at home and abroad. I encourage all Quebecers to participate in the festivities, and I invite visitors to come out and discover our approach to enjoying a winter wonderland.

A happy Carnival to one and all!

The Premier of Québec,
Philippe Couillard
