A Spectacular Parade Featuring Eight Major Sequences

Thursday, November 28, 2019 - After its 2019 reinvention, the Hydro-Québec Parade follows through in 2020 with eight major sequences featuring uninterrupted performances. Troupes of artists will travel Grande Allée along an extended route on Saturday, February 8 and Saturday, February 15. The two Parades promise spectacular displays thanks to their sustained pace, their dynamic interactions with the crowd and their musical soundtrack that spans trad and electro from one sequence to the next. Expect circus feats, impressive roving street art performances and traditional, Brazilian and contemporary dances!

“We carry on with the orientations set out in 2019 by focusing on spectacle, motion and a sustained rhythm where all troupes perform nonstop. The Parade will overflow with spectacular standout moments as well as breathtaking performances featuring interaction with the crowd,” said Daniel Gélinas, consultant for the Quebec Winter Carnival.

Several of the sequences from the 2019 Parade have been retooled and are returning, namely those created by the Carnival Workshops, Dance Laury Dance with Marc Gourdeau, FLIP Fabrique and Pur FX. To complete the Parade, new performances were designed in cooperation with various figures of the Quebec City culture scene, such as Productions Joël Thibault, the drumline of the Rouge et Or de l’Université Laval, Ès TRAD, Harold Réhaume and Fogo Rasto.

 Extended Route

This year, the Parade route will follow Grande Allée from rue des Érables to the corner of avenue Honoré‑Mercier and boulevard René‑Lévesque, covering 1.8 kilometer. This increase of 500 meters from last year ensures more room for spectators.

We Thank our Major Partners: Loto‐Québec, Christie, SAQ, Hydro-Québec and Videotron. The Carnival organization also thanks the various levels of government, namely the Government of Canada, the Government of Québec and Ville de Québec.

The 66th Quebec Winter Carnival will take place from February 7 to 16, 2020
