PURCHASE POLICY

The Carnival Effigy is required to get into official Quebec Winter Carnival sites from January 25th to February 11th, 2024, for everyone aged 13 or over. When you buy the Effigy, you receive the physical Effigy that looks like Bonhomme Carnaval. This is your pass for the Carnaval, and it gives you access to a booklet of winter discounts, including various coupons valid at several businesses in Québec City. It also entitles you to a number of discounts and privileges at several businesses and establishments in the Québec region when you show your Effigy during the winter period.

Availability and costs

EFFIGY

The Effigy will be available for advance purchase at the reduced price of $20* from October 31, 2023, to January 14, 2024, inclusively.  

The Effigy will be available at the regular price of $30* as of January 15, 2024.

*Does not include taxes or delivery fees.

Points of sale: You can buy the Effigy (both advance and regular purchasing) at the following points of sale:

  • Online at the website  www.carnaval.qc.ca (any delivery fees are additional)
  • At participating Couche-Tard franchises in the Québec region
  • At the Carnival reception desk, at 205 Cèdres Blvd., Québec, QC, G1L 1N8
  • At various area hotels and businesses (during the regular purchasing period only
  • During the event, corresponding to the opening hours of Cité de glisse (January 25 to 28), Ice Cross Kraft (January 25 to February 18), and on our traditional sites from February 2 to 11, 2024.

Pick-up and delivery options for online purchases: You can pick up your Effigy from the Carnival ticket offices during the event by selecting the “electronic ticket” option. For an additional delivery fee, you can have your Effigy delivered by mail.

As of January 15, 2024, all Effigies purchased online can be picked up at the Quebec Winter Carnival ticket offices onsite, and shipping will no longer be available.

TIE-IN PRODUCTS

Points of sale: You can buy Carnival products at these locations:

  • Year-round: Online at https://carnaval.qc.ca/ (options: delivery for applicable additional cost)
  • From January 2024 to February 11, 2024: At the Bonhomme Boutique, 205 Cèdres Blvd., Québec, QC, G1L 1N8
  • During the event (January 25th to February 11th, 2024): At the official boutique of the Quebec Winter Carnival sites, during opening hours.

 

Methods of payment: The following are accepted for online purchases: Visa and MasterCard credit cards and prepaid cards. Combination debit-credit cards are not accepted. Service and delivery fees are extra. Cash payments are accepted for purchases made at physical points of sale (along with debit and credit payments).

Specific regulations

The Effigy or the rights attached thereto or resulting therefrom may not be subject to an assignment, contest, sale, or transfer, be it in a commercial or promotional context, with or without compensation, without having obtained prior written consent from the Carnaval de Québec.

Resale of the Effigy of the Quebec Winter Carnival is strictly prohibited.

The reproduction or modification of tickets or Effigies are strictly prohibited.

REFUND POLICY FOR EFFIGIES, TICKETED ACTIVITIES AND TIE-IN PRODUCTS

ALL PURCHASES OF EFFIGIES, TICKETED ACTIVITIES AND TIE-IN PRODUCTS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE, EXCHANGEABLE, NOR TRANSFERRABLE TO A LATER PRESENTATION.

It is your responsibility to keep your Effigy and its discount booklet or your ticket safe. Furthermore, no refund will be given if you cannot use your discounts for any reason. The Quebec Winter Carnival is not responsible for any lost, stolen or destroyed Effigies or tickets.

Quebec Winter Carnival tie-in products are final sale only. In the event that a product purchased is defective, please report it to this address, boutique@carnaval.qc.ca, and then return the item to us at 205 Cèdres Blvd., Québec, QC, G1L 1N8, during business hours.

The Quebec Winter Carnival is not responsible for honouring the discount coupons included with the Effigy. These coupons are not redeemable for cash and are non-refundable. Some terms apply. Please see our website to view participating businesses: www.carnaval.qc.ca.

Quebec WINTER CARNIVAL’S CANCELLATION POLICY

Normally, activities will be held as planned, regardless of weather. However, in the event of severe weather conditions, some activities may be cancelled, particularly if a safety issue arises because of the weather. The Quebec Winter Carnival is not responsible for bad weather.

COVID-19 AND FORCE MAJEURE EVENTS 

In the event of the full or partial cancellation of an event due to the pandemic, a force majeure event or any other situation outside the control of the Quebec Winter Carnival, the Quebec Winter Carnival may, at its full and exclusive discretion, offer an exchange for a later edition of the event or a refund to Effigy holders. In the event that the Quebec Winter Carnival decides to offer refunds, Effigy holders would be eligible to receive a refund by returning their Effigy or showing their electronic ticket in person at the reception desk of the Carnival office, at 205 Cèdres Blvd., Québec, QC, G1L 1N8.

As regards the booklet of winter discounts: If coupons cannot be honoured due to a temporary closure of businesses due to COVID-19, the validity period of the coupons may be extended. Coupon holders will be advised in that event.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SHOWS AND EVENTS WITH RESERVATIONS

Normally, activities will be held as planned, regardless of weather. However, in the event of severe weather conditions, some ticketed events may be cancelled, particularly if a health or safety issue arises because of the weather.

If you have purchased tickets for an exclusive event that is cancelled, we will handle everything.   No action will be needed from you and you will not have to contact us.

  1. You will be notified by email that the event is cancelled.
  1. You will automatically be refunded through the method of payment you used for the purchase online.
  2. Please allow 7 to 10 business days following the date of the event’s cancellation to receive your refund.
