Bonhomme is crazy about La Jacques-Cartier! He feels perfectly at home here, where snow and the magic of winter are never in short supply. For him, this vast area is a big playground where he can have fun whenever he’s not busy with his famous Carnaval. Once again this year, he visited the region to recharge a little before the festivities. Want to recreate Bonhomme’s vacation? Follow in his footsteps with this fun-filled itinerary!
Day 1 – Tubing and a CoolBox
Bonhomme began his escapade at one of his favourite spots in the area: Village Vacances Valcartier! He wanted to let loose by flying down the slopes on an inner tube. He’s proud that the largest winter playground in North America is right in his own backyard. Bonhomme spent the whole day careening down the snowy slopes. His favourites? The Tornado, snow rafting, and the Himalaya!
After an action-packed day, Bonhomme chose to keep the fun going by spending the night on site in one of the new, fully equipped CoolBoxes.
Day 2 – Skating, cross-country skiing, and a cabin
After a good night’s sleep, Bonhomme was ready for another day of adventures! His first destination was the Chalet des sports de Shannon. There, he pulled on his skates to glide through the forest on icy trails. When he spotted the garlands of lights and the outdoor fireplace, he made himself a promise to come back in the evening next time to enjoy the magical atmosphere.
Later in the day, he headed for Station Duchesnay, where other activities awaited him: snowshoeing and ice fishing. He also cheered on the cross-country skiers making their way along the 65.4 km of linear trails.
Bonhomme opted to spend the night in one of the magnificent cabins on the shores of the frozen lake. He found the view charming and particularly appreciated his elegant, comfortable accommodations.
Day 3 – Snowshoeing and an exhibition
For his last day, Bonhomme chose to explore another corner of La Jacques-Cartier: Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, a mountainous area covered in snow, just the way he likes it! His adventure began at the Centre récréotouristique des Hautes-Terres, where he put on his snowshoes to climb the Montagne à Deux Têtes. At the summit, he was dazzled by the spectacular view of the landscape.
On the way home, Bonhomme made a final stop at Parc Richelieu in Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval to admire visual artist Nadia Morin’s exhibition L’instant d’une résonance. It was great way to end his stay on a cultural note!
Bonhomme had so much fun in La Jacques-Cartier that his greatest wish is to come back!
